ASBU is a professional, non-profit organization pursuing the following objectives:

Boost the spirit of Arab brotherhood 

Develop common orientations based on full commitment to Arab national causes. 

Get across to peoples worldwide the authentic image of the Arab nation, the possiblities it offers and the issues it faces. 

Represent ASBU member-organizations, defend their interests in the negotiation-process over major events’ coverage rights and provide all needed facilities to this effect. 

Coordinate Arab States positions and back their efforts for the defense of their interests in international fora. 

Develop national mastery over communication technology and enhance Arab cooperation in the field of radio and television. 

Contribute to the creation of a new world communication order which guarantees for all national cultures the right to self assertion and advancement and provides opportunities of fruitful dialogue amongst them. 

Develop, coordinate and investigate all ways and means likely to promote the broadcasting sector and seek to intensify the exchange of expertise and programmes on all matters from which ASBU members could derive benefit. 

Develop and uphold all forms of technical cooperation among ASBU member-organizations. 

Prepare broadcasting wave length tables needed by ASBU members and coordinate them according to international technical regulations, systems and standards. 

Organize the use of broadcasting waves in the Arab world in cooperation with international organizations. 

Unify the defense of Arab countries' wave-related needs in international fora. 

Set up training programmes for the benefit of Arab radio and television employees and work towards further developing training systems in this field. 

Keep pace with technological, technical and programme-related advances in the radio and television sector. 

Establish ever closer cooperation ties with international organizations as well as regional broadcasting unions in order to better serve the causes of the Arab nation.
