Tunis, January 29, 2009 – Prospects of new ways to develop cooperation
between the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and the European Broadcasting
Union (EBU) have been on the agenda of a courtesy visit EBU new Director
General, Mrs. Ingrid Deltenre, paid today to ASBU headquarters in Tunis,
Tunisia. She was accompanied by her predecessor, Mr. Jean Réveillon.

Welcoming his guests, Mr. Slaheddine Maaoui, ASBU Director General, praised
“the solid cooperation accomplished so far by the two broadcasting
organizations, both on a bilateral level and in association with other parties.
“We have been able to make together an interesting path and we look forward to
going even farther on the same way,” he said.

Mr. Maaoui and his staff then reviewed ASBU’s major activities and projects.
They focused on cooperation programs with EBU and on the Pan-Arab organization’s
flagship achievement--the Multimedia Exchange Network Over Satellite (MENOS)
system, recently developed by ASBU and being used since early 2009 by member
corporations to enhance radio and TV exchanges among them.
Mrs. Ingrid Deltenre expressed how impressed she was by the
system, stating it will certainly be useful in strengthening and diversifying
cooperation between the two broadcasting associations. Ingrid Deltenre took
up the position of EBU Director General on Jan. 1, 2010. |
