Tunis, October 19, 2009 -- The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) is
busy with a series of meetings, seminars and workshops, held by its standing,
specialized committees and other working groups. It is expected that such
activity will lead up to the eighty-second session of the Executive Board
(December 15-16) and to ASBU’s twenty-ninth General Assembly (December 17-18).
ASBU’s member corporations, including all public TV and radio stations in the
Arab countries and some private channels, play a key role in the meetings to
outline the Union's future policy and major choices. The meeting series kicked
off October 18 and includes the following:
- Working Group in charge of re-designing the Arab Song Festival,
(18-19 October), - Programs Standing Committee (second
meeting, 20-21 October), - Sports Standing Committee (tenth
meeting, 22-23 October), - Technical – program working group on
MENOS finances, (25-26 October), - 45th meeting of the Technical
Committee, (27-28 October), - Technical symposium on HDTV, (29-30
October), - Arab Group on HDTV, (31 October - 1
November) - Second meeting of News Standing Committee, (2-3
November), - Evaluation Follow-up Committee Meeting + Radio
